Nikhil has been practicing under the guidance of Yogacharya Bharath Shetty since 2006. After completing his teacher training at Indeayoga in 2015, he began assisting and teaching at the Indeayoga teacher training programs. Since 2016 he managed and led the teacher training programs at Indeayoga’s residential facility the Yoga Dhaama; where he served as the Lead and Senior Teacher. Since then he has been leading teacher trainings on-and-off and continued his journey with Indeayoga and Yoga Bharata, Mysore. He has taught in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2017 and done workshops in Europe in 2019. He currently leads and teaches online classes through Samudra Yoga and offline in Gokulam, the yoga hub of Mysore. He primarily teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga, and is among the few teachers adept with Pranayama. Years of experience in teaching students worldwide and his extensive background in training teachers speaks for itself. Born in Gokulam, the heart of Yoga in Mysore, Nikhil did his schooling in hill stations like Munnar, Kerala and Coorg, Karnataka. A Graduate in Mechanical Engineering had a brief stint as a Design Engineer and then worked in the Financial Services Information sector (Ultra High Net Worth Prospecting) for a few years. Having grown up in the hills he is passionate about nature, animals and wildlife. His other interests include off-roading, trekking, biology, anatomy and physiology, and sports. He practiced Jiu-Jitsu for a few years and earned a blue belt from Fernando Pacheco. He has also trained under Grant Ratcliffe (Gold Coast, Australia). The Yoga Story, “Atha Yoga Anushasanam” Nikhil began his formal Yoga journey in 2006 under the guidance of Yogacharya Bharath Shetty, while studying Mechanical Engineering in Mysore. A troublemaker in college, Yoga and sports, were the only things that kept him grounded and were the only sensible clear-headed activities he chose those days, he says. He continued to practice, on and off, under Bharath Shetty over the years. Not a very regular student yet Yoga some how followed him and in 2015, having quit work, not knowing what next, he enrolled for a Teacher Training Program in Indeayoga with Bharath sir. Not interested to teach at all, wanting to quit in day 2, he forced himself to complete the training to not disappoint his teacher. Soon thereafter Bharath sir made him assist in TTC programs and slowly got him to start teaching; one of the toughest things and he hated it. Over the years he got comfortable being around in class and teaching. In 2016, when Indeayoga inaugurated the residential facility (The Dhaama) for Teacher Trainings, Nikhil was given the opportunity to manage the whole program and the Dhaama. Since then he has been leading teacher trainings and continued his journey with Indeayoga and Yoga Bharata. He has taught in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2017 and done a few workshops in Europe in 2019. Post pandemic he was doing the Level 1 TTC programs at IndeaYoga Dhaama and also teaches at Yoga Bharata. Having trained under several teachers Nikhil considers Bharath Shetty to be teacher, mentor and guide. He says, “I’am a teacher by chance and not by choice. Yet over the years teaching has become my passion and profession.”

I am Dr. Neha Agrawal. I am a Dentist and a Yoga teacher. I finished my Dentistry in 2012 from Indore and later on moved to Mumbai with my family. Since then, I practiced Dentistry for almost 9 years. I had health issues which started when I was just 16. Because of stress I was diagnosed with hypothyroid. I faced a lot of symtoms like weight gain, low confidence, Depression, hair fall, etc. I was always an introverted person. Also, I was never into sports so I was not physically active. Soon, I realised I must look after my health. For that, I started following my passion dancing and then I developed interest in the stretches and understood the importance of physical health, that’s when I got into Yoga. So my first experience of Yoga was in 2016 when I moved to Delhi and started practicing online through some videos. After practicing yoga online for a while, I realised I need to learn the basics so I joined a Diploma course on Yoga Vidya through Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Delhi. Later that year I had to move to Mumbai and I continued dentistry and finished my teachers training course with The Yoga Institute, santacruz, Mumbai. This Institute taught me the Philosophical aspect of yoga. It taught me Discipline , patience, acceptance through Yoga Eventually, I did my internship with the institute under senior teachers and started teaching. Since I had a medical background, I taught Basic Anatomy and physiology to the students coming at the institute for TTCs, and I also conducted Health management Yoga camps and lectures. I took group and Private asana sessions. Also, my dancing skills helped me a lot and I conducted recreation sessions for the people coming to the institute for stress management. When COVID began, I had to leave Dentistry temporarily as I was working in the most infectious prone area in Mumbai , Dharavi. That's how I set my focus completely on Yoga, took a lot of Online lectures, online personal classes, etc. Soon I realised, I was no more an introvert , since teaching my skills helped in developing more confidence in me. I started believing I am here in this world for a specific purpose. I observed the difference I was making in people's lives. But my own practice wasn’t that consistent and strong. So I joined Online classes taught by Nikhil. Now this was a turning point in my life when I felt I found a Guru. My regular consistent practice with Nikhil made me stronger physically and mentally. My teaching skills also improved. I always had an interest in teaching new skills to the kids whether its dance, art and craft, trekking skills, and now, YOGA. I believe, if kids are taught right Yogic practices it will help them not just physically but mentally. I strongly believe that physical health is a by product of yoga. So my purpose of teaching Yoga is to spread mental health awareness.
